Today I had to present my presentation to the class and I couldn't because my voice was hurting a lot and I couldn't talk loud so Mrs.Griffiths told me to put on my project on the screen and we will discuss it in the class and everyone will give a comment (a good or a bad thing about it).
Well I learned that a good project is all about your self and you have to talk most of the things and DO NOT put programs of information in your slides and make them short so the audience could see them and and read them easily. Make your presentation short and put more pictures and organize them in order and make them like flashy so you could talk about each. Try not to read of the paper and Try to explain it in front of class with clear voice. Put a good background color for all slides.

Well that the info I could tell you...Hope that helps. :P

  • OUR NEW SMALL PROJECT

ok all we have to do is to make a powerpoint presentation by our self about a brand of our choice for example: (NIKE, PUMA, Mc Donland and etc....) and the project only has to be for 3 minutes long and 4 slides. The presentation is due on friday october 20th and I am in the computer class making my own presentation.

I will add more information later on.

Today's homework was to read an article about death of powerpoint and write a summary or an abstract about it , it is about like how to keep your audience awake so they dont fall sleep:

The link for this article is:
http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=voh&AN=20607562&site=src-live

The article is writen by Christian Buss and he will explain how to get your presention more catching and intresting.

Summary:
Today there are many tools to make your presentation more effective. One of these tools is microsoft powerpoint. Most of a time when people are presenting something on powerpoint you will get bored and you dont want to listen to their presention. All you really look at is the back ground and the pictures on that presention. All the powerpoint today are getting boring because of the same pattern and typing stuff. They are 5 mistakes most of the people make in their presention.
First: A typical slide has a linear layout- sometimes the audience know what to expect to see on each presention , so you have to catch your audience's eye, and you have to try to avoid the regular linear stuff you used before.
second: Never write about what you are about to say on the slide , because the audience can even see and read the presention even faster than us, so try to read or explain what your about to read on the slide.
Third: Make sure you can controll the audience and if they asked questions, answer them all and give them questions to answer , so you will know if they were listening or not.
fourth: The limit of each slide is from 30 to 60 second with few expections.
Fifth: review all the thing you done reading so far in a summery and try to make it as simple as possible.

The second Article will be added shortly.

MORE INFO ABOUT COMPUTER HARDWERE.

Motherboard Expansion SlotsThese are slots located on the motherboard, which are used to connect video cards, sound cards etc. They are of different types:
ISA-Industrial Standard ArchitectureISA slots are made by Promise and called I/O Max. It has an additional set of serial ports, an additional parallel port, and another IDE connector al on the same card but they are reasonably old and are not used too much anymore.
PCI-Peripheral Component InterconnectPCI slot can handle 64-bits of data at a time which is twice as much as an ISA which can handle only 32 bits at a time. A 64 bit PCI slot has 64 connections to the motherboard. Each connection is capable of handling 1 bit of data at a time. ISA is an older technology, therefore PCI is way faster than ISA.
SCSI-Small Computer Interface SystemWith an SCSI expansion card, you can connect upto 15 devices and it is the latest technology of its kind. SCSI cards are available with transfer rates from 4MB per secoond, and upto 320MB.
FactsThe ultra 320 SCSI-2 interface is the fastest with a 320MB per second data transfer rate.
AGP-Accelerated Graphics PortThese slots are dedicated to video cards. They are also called Graphic Expansion Cards. AGP video cards can transfer data faster than PCI video cards. Video cards simply plug into an AGP slot which connects in to a monitor or another video display device in a computer. The DVI(digital video interface) connector connects to a digital video display. Video cards with a TV input connection are able of displaying a television's video on a computer. The quality of the AGP card and resonlution of the monitor determine the picture quality. AGP slots and cards come in 4 different modes and one must be careful to match the right card with the right slot. However some cards can run in more than one modes. AGP x 1 is the oldest mode. It transfers data at about 266MBs persecond. AGP x 2 at 533MBs and AGPx4 at 1.07GBs per second. The latest is AGP x 8 that transfers speed at 2.14 GB s per second!
PCI ExpressThis is a more recent tecnnology this is replacing AGP. PCI Express x 16 slots can transfer data at 4GBs per second, which twice that of an AGP x 8. PCI slots come in PCI2 x 2 , x4, x 8 and x 16.
GPU-Graphic Processing UnitThe vudei card is incharge of controlling the video display. It is the brain of the video card just like the motherboard is the brain of the computer. It is responsible for making the decisions for processing the video card's graphical input and output data. It is hidden under a fan so it doesnt overheat.
Case FanThese are quiet cheap but extremely important. Computer components can produce alot of heat and must be kept cool inorder for them to function properly. Its the main source of cooling for most computers, however its importance is often overlooked. It increases the life of a computer and pervents the parts from wearing out. Most computers are designed to accomodate more than one fans incase users need optional fans.

Student-
You need the computer for gaming, listening to music and doing homework, of course. Here’s what I would suggest are the main things you should look for when buying a computer:

-modem
- a basic printer
-MUST HAVE A AGP SPOT
-a pretty high memory card
-high hard disk (ex. 200Gb...)
-good processor-
CD-RW or a DVD-RW optical drive
*refurbished computer
- the computer had been used before, and it underwent repair. This could be a cheap solution to pretty high system requirements.
*-> Well this is what you could get with your computer.

More information about computer parts

Buses It is like a big city of connections. Instead of streets, it has tiny electrical paths to connect certain components of the computer. These connections are called busses.
FactsThe more busses to a component, the faster it can operate.Larger busses work faster than the smaller one.
FSBThe motherboard also has a freeway, which is called a front side bus(FSB) which is the most important on a computer because it connects the computer to the main memory and NorthBridge chipset. The faster the FSB the faster the computer, so in other words, FSB is a computers speed. Older mother boards had FSB speeds of 33MHZ and below. Now , most FSB s have speeds of over 1000MHZ.
ChipsetLike the traffic police in real life, the chipset(2 chips on a motherboard). It controls , manages and directs all the data flow between the components.
BIOS (basic input output device)The BIOS is where the computers settings are stored, and it is run by a battery within the computer. It instructs the computer to do things like launching the windows. The BIOS settings can be changed by going into the computers setup by which is different for different computers, the keys are usually F11 or delete which can be pressed right after the computer is turned on.

Some suggestions to get a good computer-P2

Custumer #2-Client Two: A Teacher who wants a computer for email and marking student work. They don't want to spend any more than they have to.

I think this person need a good computer with a good modem so he/she could use the internet for emailing and searching. They don't need to buy a good computer with over $500 cost. They could just buy a computer with a low ram, graphic, Dont even need a sound card,Because they only want it for emailing and for marking the student ...I suggest a computer with $300-500 should be good for these stuff.

I'll be keep posting more information later on.

Friday, October 06, 2006

The project is going well but I think I should not be posting the project..Because come people might steal my project INFO. :P

The the due date is OCT 13.

Some Suggestions about getting a computer

Costumer 1 - A Student entering high school wants a computer for playing games and for doing homework. The student is interested in listening to music. The student doesn't have a lot of money. (For more information click on the link below.)I think this person need a refurbished computer. This means that the computer had been used before, and it underwent repair. This could be a cheap solution to pretty high system requirements. A computer for doing homework should have a good modem as you need the internet access for research. You might also want a good modem in order for you to download music & Game from the Internet. For homework you need a basic printer as well. Games would demand for high video and sound cards. There should be an AGP slot in order for students to upgrade their computer if they would like to. RAM(random access memory.)should be pretty high because you do not want to have your games to be slow while you are playing. Also, you might want a pretty big hard drive so that it would fit all your stuff suggest to buy a hard drive over these days. A student wouldn't really need a rewritable DVD drive, a CD-RW would be enough, especially considering their budget. The processor and CPU must be pretty normal.

The website
I checked out the website Mr. Case gave us on Friday. I saved it on Microsoft words, and read most of it over the weekend. I planned on writing some notes, but then I didn't have time, so I just read it over and over again, and tried to remember most of the important parts. I hope I know enough so that I can do the assignment Mr. Case was talking about.

PROJECT!!!
Today was quit cool. I learned a lot of things on buying computers, which I never new before. Mr case assigned a assignment to find three computers which suit people. If people play more games on the computer and watch a lot of movies they should get a computer with a better soundcards and video card. The people who need the computer for homework needs, they should not focus to much on the sound card and memory they should look more at the memory.
